What
is an Adult Family Home?
An
adult family home is a private home licensed by Washington State
DSHS to provide senior care services for a maximum of six residents.
The home is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round to
provide care for your loved one. The home is inspected by the city
building inspector and the state department of health in order to
be licensed. The home is also subject to regular inspections by
the department of health.
DSHS
has published a document that gives
some good advice on what to look for in an adult family home. Click

How does the home care for my loved one?
The staff of New Day Senior Living are trained and licensed
by the state of Washington to provide most levels of care, including
dementia and hospice. We provide assistance with activities of daily
living, medication management, and emotional support. The home has
procedures for obtaining emergency assistance, such as an ambulance.
We keep individual resident records and store them so that information
is immediately available in an emergency. We have a Registered Nurse
on call, who makes regular visits to the home. We also work closely
with the residents' doctors and other healthcare professionals.
What needs to happen for my loved one to move in?
First, we encourage family and your loved one (when possible) to
visit our home to meet us and see what we have to offer. If you
and your loved one decide that New Day is your choice, a complete
care assessment will be done by a licensed nurse or clinical social
worker. This comprehensive assessment details all of the care needs
for your loved one, including medical history, physical, mental,
and emotional needs, as well as personal preferences and lifestyle
choices. We will also work with a pharmacy to set up delivery of
medications to the home. We then will meet with the family to sign
an admission agreement and other forms required by the state. At
this point, your loved one can move into the home.
Are
you prepared for emergencies and natural disasters?
Yes.
We have a number of procedures in place to handle most emergencies,
including:
»
Emergency food and water supply
» Gas powered generator
» Carbon monoxide detector
» Battery powered accessories
What are your rates?
Rates are determined by the level of care.
